Charleston Farmers Market

We went to the Charleston Farmers Market our last day on the trip.  It was a Saturday morning and the weather was gorgeous with a clear blue sky and cool breeze.  Every Saturday morning the Charleston Farmers Market is held at the Marion Square in downtown.  It is voted one of the top 5 in the US and I now know why.  They had a vast array of colorful fruits and vegetables, breads and baked goods.  The aroma was satisfying.  Carl and I strolled Waylen along as we sipped our morning coffee and we made sure to walk the entire square visiting each vendor to see what they had to offer along with several booths where people set up shop to sell their homemade items.   We purchased a piece of art from one of the local artists.  Charleston is a place we would like to return to one day.  The entire trip was a wonderful experience!!

I love my Mommy!

I love my Daddy!

Chimney Rock, NC

Chimney Rock, NC was absolutely breath taking.  We drove the winding roads up the mountain and then took an elevator that was built right into the mountain up to the peak for a look out...Stunning!!

1st Time At The Beach

Waylen's first time at the beach!!  The beach is right down the street from Carl's Aunt Shirley's place, which is where we stayed.  We didn't spend too much time there because it was a tad too windy, but we wanted Waylen to experience it.  There's nothing like the feeling of sand between your toes!!

Here is Waylen with Carl's great Aunt Shirley (this would make her Waylen's great, great Aunt Shirley - so cool!!)  It was so nice to see her when we were down there and to spend some time getting to know her more.  It was her first time meeting Waylen and boy did they get along.  I think Waylen was fascinated by her glasses because he tried to pull them off several times - watch out Aunt Shirley!!  Since Waylen's been born, you can just tell he's gonna be a people person like his Daddy.  As he's getting bigger, he's interacting more and more, it's neat to see!!

I'm a Big Boy, I Can Sit!!

These were taken at a coffee shop in Charleston, N.C. called Kudu Coffee.  Our thing we love to do when on vacation/traveling is to check out different coffee shops.  Each day, we'll find a new one by asking locals where to go.  We generally wont go to the same one twice unless we've really found a gem.  We base it on the same drink we get every time - the Raspberry Mocha - just to see how other coffee shops make theirs.  Its amazing how a Raspberry Mocha can  be so different from shop to shop and it always seems to be that the little whole in the wall coffee shops make the most excellent ones.  More photos of our Charleston trip to come!!

I lLike My Thumb!

Waylen's got this new thing of holding his thumb.  He is fascinated with his hands and loves to feel new textures, his favorite being bumpy and rough surfaces!  He also loves his daddy's beard and is starting to pull mommy's hair - ouch.  He is still such a little lover and enjoys people, especially a face.  I love it when he reaches down to touch my face when I lift him up above my head.  He's doing it to Carl here!  It's such a heart melter.

Waylen reading his cuddle me book.  He loves this book because it has a mirror inside.  He thinks its humorous to see himself as a monkey and a bunny and a lion.

Parade

Waylen has been to 2 parades so far - the first one was the Memorial Day parade and now the 4th of July parade.  He loves them, there is so much to see and hear.

Little Chief

This was also at the 4th of July parade in Downtown Farmington.  The officer was nice to let us get a picture inside the car!!  You see, we have these sort of privileges now that we have a child...or maybe he thought that Waylen would make a good little Chief!!

Amber!

A couple months ago, my friend Amber came to visit from TN!!  Waylen was so excited to meet her, although he was a tired little boy after a long walk in the neighborhood.  Our friendship means a lot to me and whenever we talk, when we get the chance to, our conversations are always rich with insight and intuition.  Love you girl!!
