Swings and Bikes
...are 2 things you will find in abundance during the summertime. We got Waylen his first bike a few weeks back. The rules were simple...once he learned how to do #2 all by himself, then mom and dad would buy him a bike. He said he wanted a Lightning McQueen bike. We're still learning on this one...but he'll master it soon.
Fun Randomness
I really wanted to learn how to cook amazing mouth-watering fall-off-the-bone ribs this year. This was my first attempt. I never really "got" ribs, but this year I started to like them. And sort of crave them. After conducting much research and interviewing, I discovered all the various way that one could in fact prepare ribs. Here I am showing Shiloh some of my secret cooking techniques.
I just love this picture. This is Shiloh wearing a tea cosy. She thought it was a hat (and so did I). That's right....for the 82% of the population who does not know what that is, you can read more about it here.
Well, well, well. Here we are..celebrating Colleen's birthday on August 5. I made a reservation to a restaurant that I always wanted to take her to. The Whitney. Perhaps you've heard of it. My dad took me there once in college...and I never forgot about it. I knew that one day I had to take Colleen to see, experience (and taste) this historic little spot on Woodward Ave.
Riverwalk!
The next group of posts are going to be looking back on the summer. As you may or may not've (not a word, but should be) noticed, we haven't posted anything new in approximately 3 months. That was because we were busy enjoying summer! You gotta make the most of it, man...because it goes by fast. (here in Michigan) Like they say, 3 months of summer, 9 months of winter.
One of the places we liked to go to was the Detroit Riverwalk/River front. This place is a lot of fun. On any given summer evening, there are scores and scores of kids running around the fountain(s) just enjoying life without a care in the world. There is something refreshing about going down to our great city and being apart of the lively sights, sounds and smells. Plus it's a fun place to people watch.
Shiloh is two...yea!!!!
Today is our beautiful daughter's birthday!! Our baby turned two...and she is growing sweeter and prettier by the day. We love her so much...seems like it was just yesterday that we were racing to Providence with Colleen in quick and swift labor pains! And...bam!! She was here. 14 minutes after we got the hospital. I almost missed the birth, as I was busy parking the car. That was 09/09/09. And here we are today...celebrating with the lovely Miss Shiloh!!!!!

Summer is Here Pt. 3
Summer is Here Pt. 2
So Colleen bought the kids their first pools...one for each. A pink one and blue one, respectively. One of the reasons is because both of them would not have been able to fit in one. They are perhaps the smallest pools I have ever seen....not much bigger than a bird bath. The bath tub actually is a bit more roomy, but they don't seem to care...it's a pool!! And pools are magical to youngsters.
Yes, they will grow out of these bad boys just in time for the end of summer. And next year, we be getting an upgrade...to bigger and better. Because that's what we do, right!? UPGRADE!!!!!!!! Their shoes last 2 weeks. Strollers last 3 months... They get sick of a toy after a few hours. It's awesome!!!!!!

The smallest snow man ever
everyday waylen asks, "dad, is it packing snow??"
we keep telling him that we are gonna go out and make a snowman when the snow is good for packing. well, it's been snowing pretty good around here, so we thought we'd bundle up, go outside, and give it a shot. the snow was too powdery. doh!
so we officially made the smallest snow man ever. it's shiloh sized, and it stands roughly 8" tall. those are actually beans for buttons and eyes, to give you an idea of just how tiny this guy is.
